Sheepskins
About Our Sheepskins
Following our on-farm harvest in late autumn, we flesh and cure the hides at the farm for several weeks, then meticulously comb through them to remove all debris and tangles before sending them off to Driftless Tannery, a woman-run tannery that uses non-toxic and eco-friendly traditional bark-tanning methods. In addition to being raised and processed without chemicals, our sheepskins are hypoallergenic, totally luxurious, and would make for a beautiful and meaningful heirloom textile for yourself or someone you love.
The tannery always complements us on the quality of our sheepskins and we take this to be the highest complement as not only do they see a LOT of sheepskins, but because this is a direct reflection of the health of our flock and our flock management practices: a sick or stressed sheep cannot produce a high-quality sheepskin. Our sheepskins are a testament to the hours of care and love we pour into our flock day in and day out and we take great pride in offering them to our community.
All of our sheepskins are from lambs with an average 6-8″ staple length unless otherwise noted. Lambswool is much finer and softer than that of adult sheep, making for an incredibly silky fleece.
Purchasing a Sheepskin + Current Inventory
We do not have an online farm store set up at this time. Please contact us if you are interested in making a purchase or setting up a time to browse.
Some of the hides have small butcher holes in the leather; these are not noticeable through the fiber and do not compromise the integrity of the sheepskin.
